Abstract: Six representative pedons were characterize of chemical, chemical composition of saturation extract and available nutrients properties of the soils of different land slope of north-west Gir Madhuvanti toposequence of south Saurashtra region of Gujarat. The six representative pedon soils have been classified as Lithic Ustorthents (P1), Lithic Ustorthents (P2), Vertic Haplusterts (P3), Typic Haplusterts (P4), Sodic Haplusterts (P5) and Fluventic Calciustepts (P6). Soils of the study area pH, EC, organic carbon and CaCO3 were 7.89, 1.41 dSm-1, 0.58 percent and 19.93 percent, respectively indicating the soils to be moderately alkaline, medium in O.C. and highly calcareous in nature. The CEC, BSP and ESP were 33.18 cmol (p+) kg-1, 92.71 and 8.27, respectively. The exchangeable Ca2+ was the dominant cation followed by Mg2+, Na+ and K+. The saturation percentage was 42.49 in the soils of different land slopes. The pHs and ECe were 8.04 and 5.00 dSm-1, respectively. The proportion of water soluble cations and anions were to be decreasing order of Na+ > Ca2+ > Mg2+ > K+ and Cl- > HCO3- > CO3--. The SAR value observed 3.84. The soils were low in available N as well as P2O5, medium in available K2O, Fe and Zn and high in Mn and Cu.
