Abstract: The present investigation was conducted during Rabi, 2015-17 at department of Vegetable science, College of Horticultural Bengaluru, University, of Horticultural Sciences Bagalkot, Karnataka, India. The 200 tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) genotypes were evaluated to estimate the nature and magnitude of associations of different characters with yield per plant and among themselves. The experiment was conducted using augmented block design (ABD). Yield per plant exhibited significant and positive association with number of branches per plant (0.2783), fruit width (0.2358), pericarp thickness (0.1436), number of fruits per plant (0.6290), average fruit weight (0.2184) and firmness (0.2273) indicating the possibility of simultaneous improvement of these traits in improving total fruit yield per plant. In case of path analysis number of fruits per plant (0.9960), average fruit weight (0.6604) and fruit width (0.1132) had high positive direct effect on yield per plant hence, indicating their true positive and significant association with yield per plant. This indicated that these traits play important role in yield improvement. This implies that direct selection for these characters might be effective and there is a possibility of improvement in yield per plant.
