Integrated nutrient management and its components in vegetable production

Author(s): Tariq A Bhat, Asif M Rather, Muzamil A Hajam and Saima Paul

Abstract: INM system is to handle and sustain the agricultural output and improve the farmer's productivity through the cautious and efficient use of chemical fertilizers, organic manures, green manures, and compost including vermicompost, crop residues and bio-fertilizers. However, this does not mean adding everything everywhere; rather, a well-considered practical and proficient blend of varied nutrient sources is required which can produce desired yields and maintain soil health on long-term basis. INM system helps to restore and sustain crop productivity, and also assists in checking the emerging micronutrient deficiencies. Further, it brings economy and efficiency in the use of fertilizers INM system is to manage and sustain the agricultural productivity and improve the farmer's profitability through the judicious and efficient use of chemical fertilizers, organic manures, green manures, and compost including vermicompost, crop residues and bio-fertilizers.
