Abstract: The present investigation was carried out in kharif season during the year 2016-17 on 12 F1 progenies and 8 parental genotypes of rice bean using randomized block design with three replication for 11 characters. The analysis of phenotypic and genotypic correlation coefficient for parents and progenies was carried out separately to study the pattern of character association and direct and indirect effects of various characters. The result on phenotypic and genotypic correlation coefficient revealed that for parents, seed yield per plant exhibited significant positive correlation with days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, pods per plant, pods per clusters, 100-seed weight and pod length while for progeny seed yield per plant was significantly and positively correlated with plant height, branches per plant, pods per plant, clusters per plant and pods per cluster. Path coefficient analysis of different yield contributing traits revealed that for parents days to maturity, plant height, pods per plant, pods per cluster, 100-seed weight and pod length exhibited positive direct effects on seed yield while for progeny days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, cluster per plant and pods per cluster exhibited positive direct effects.
